If I turn my head quickly enough
I may see her;
lithe body rotating in graceful ballet.
seeing me, she will smile

If I turn my head quickly enough
she will be there,
arms open, beckoning me into her warmth,
welcoming me with her love

I dare not turn in her direction
I may be too slow,
her phantom dissolving into vapour
leaving me desolate

    1. Thank you.
      When something really good happens in my life, I reach for the phone to tell her about it, and then i remember. But I smile, because for a moment I believed she was still alive. It has been ten years, and the heartache has faded.
