If I turn my head quickly enough
I may see her;
lithe body rotating in graceful ballet.
seeing me, she will smile
If I turn my head quickly enough
she will be there,
arms open, beckoning me into her warmth,
welcoming me with her love
I dare not turn in her direction
I may be too slow,
her phantom dissolving into vapour
leaving me desolate

Thank you! It’s about my mum, but maybe you guessed that.

Sounds like the wistful thoughts I used to have about the ballerina in my little jewelry box. Lovely and deeper, I think, than at first glance.

Thank you.
When something really good happens in my life, I reach for the phone to tell her about it, and then i remember. But I smile, because for a moment I believed she was still alive. It has been ten years, and the heartache has faded.

I have nominated you for the “Love in Ten Sentences” poetry challenge. You don’t have to accept but thought you might like to join in.

Thank you. I did it a couple of weeks ago, https://janebasilblog.wordpress.com/2015/03/02/love-in-ten-sentences/
but I wouldn’t mind seeing if I can have another go. That’s a lovely challenge.

This one is a little different. In that one, love began the sentence; in this one, it doesn’t have to.

You have just led me to a realisation! Almost everything I write is about love – even the poems which describe anger and hurt.
