Brain rape

face-109968_6

and as I am
     about to drift
            into simple sleep,
                  a shadowy vision
                    ripples, disappears,
                     shimmers, glows clear.
                      bare-chested & with
                      unlikely ears, his
                      fleshy lips move,
                      bringing unbidden
                      masculine theory,
                      criticising my dim,
                      uncemented rhymes
                      and elusive ideas
                      slyly stealing them
                    away, replacing them
                  and his spectral
              image, with bright
           shiny colours and
       contortions, and,
     as I am losing
   the struggle to
  remember, and
   just as I begin
     to welcome and
       slip into the pink-
          tinged slim oblivion
               of deepest sleep
                  he seems to be
                     promising me, he
                      whisks away those
                      calming pictures
                     he placed behind
                    my closed lids,
                    insulting me
                    anew with his
                     slyly grinning
                      picture and the
                     reminder that he
                    has raped this
                  t i r e d

    1. Ha ha! Now you come to mention it, it does kinda remind me of someone.
I sometimes have visions at night when I close my eyes. This is a description of a nasty one I had last week. He was huge, bare chested and pink (!) with a look of gleeful malice on his face. It felt as if he was stealing my thoughts almost before they entered my head, so I couldn’t catch them.

    1. Thank you. I really enjoy messing about with shapes. I thought of doing it in the shape of a male torso, from the waist up, because that’s how he appeared to me, but it made the appearance too solid.
