A new baby has been conceived!

I feel like celebrating. After two days I have a four thousand word foetus.
My new baby book is well and truly conceived, ready to develop limbs, and I’m excited.

Thank you Anton, and everyone who has given me the inspiration and confidence to keep on writing. That goes for you:

Calen
Lynn
Esther
ajppo’brian
Colette
Fimnora
Michelle
Dancing Echoes
Sirena

There are so many others out there whom I haven’t named. Thank you all.

This post has two purposes: the first is to express my gratitude. The second is to ensure I put myself into a position where I will be too embarassed to abandon this book halfway through.

  1. That;s fantastic news, Jane. Is this the children’s book idea you mentioned a few weeks ago? Four thousand words is no mean feat. Do, do keep going. You may hit some rough patches, but don’t let them stop you – it will be so very worth it.
Good luck on your novel adventure and very well done you!

          1. Oh, tell me about it! I started my blog to try and promote my writing / improve it / connect with potential readers and now I spend more time writing for the blog than I do my fiction!
Now, back to it, lady 🙂

            1. Yay! School’s out for the rest of the day, because I’ve written 2,8o0 words today, though I can’t say how much I’m going to have to edit.
I’m finally writing almost the way I should, with my head down, ignoring typos until I feel the need to run through it to re-read a piece.
This evening I’m going to a friend’s for a meal, and when I get back I can do what I like! I may write a poem, or I may play patience (Solitaire, for my American readers)

              1. Well done you! Thst’s amazingly productive. I don’t think I’ve ever written 2,800 words in a day-ever. Maybe if I had I wouldn’t have just finished another rewrite of my book six years after starting it! You relax and enjoy a break – you deserve it.

    1. So, Alan, you have a first name. I’ve been wonderingabout that.
I’ve had to go right back to the roots. It feels strange to be stuck in 2003, and I’m berating myself all over again for the mistakes I’ve made. I have to be tough and keep all of my excuses to myself.
And yes, it is a sad story, even when I miss out chunks which may not appear relevant.

  2. 🙂 That really is fantastic Jane 🙂 if anyone can do it you can, you really are such a talented writer. It’s a courageous and admirable challenge to take on, to share such insights and experiences and to immerse in those histories and face those realities again. Take care and keep on writing 🙂
