we are all human
angels and demons are rarely to be found
but when we glance around us we imagine them to be all around us.
If I look in your eyes
I may see perfection, where another may visualise evil
some of it depends on
the darkened shadows and bright highlights
thrown out by the light of the observer
and the reflecions therein
while the rest is caused by
your unique patterns of the moment
your pictures of the past
your visions of the future
and miriad complex tricks of imagery
we are all human
angels and demons are rarely to be found

I love your take on prompt and always wonder how you come up with such great writings. Some are so talented and you are one.

Thank you Donna. I looked at the image and it spoke to me – that’s the truth…
I’ve had a passion for writing since I was six years old. If I hadn’t learnt a little bit in all that time it would be pretty sad…

I love to write and create a story but find poetry harder.

I think it’s got something to do with th way words feel in the mouth, and getting a comfortable rhythm. I was weaned on poetry – my mother loved reciting poems. Her eyes would go all misty as she spoke, and that gave me a good start, but until I started this blog, just over a year ago, I wrote mostly in prose. Poetry was a way for me to get rid of my anger, more than anything. If someone upset me I would write a scathing rhyme with perfect rhythm. I must see if I can find any of those old poems, and post them…

Now they would be interesting to revisit !

If I can find any of them; I had a tendency to leave them lying around for the object of my anger to read. I know it’s a bit naughty, but they were very witty!

That is terrific. I especially love how you repeated the first lines at the last. They were the core truth of the piece. Wonderful job!

Yes, lovely job, Jane. We all have to keep reminding ourselves of these things. Demonising people, seeing them as less than human, is the first step to unimaginable horrors. Beautifully put.

Thaank you Lynn – all I have to do now is to put my money where my mouth is – how’s that for an antiquated cliche!

True, though! We all need to do a little of that – not least of all me!

None of us are perfect; all we can do is try.

Yes, I must keep reminding myself not to judge people too harshly, though sometimes, living in a city where you see so many depressing sights, it’s hard not to.

Wonderful post, Jane! I thought of Dan Brown when I read the second and also the last line.

The Da Vinci Code author, Dan Brown. He also wrote a book, before The Da Vinci Code, called, Angels and Demons.
