before
I used to run
while my contemporaries looked on
stunned by my energy
before
I climbed trees
urging earth-bound children to follow
but they stared and said no
before
I made long lists
completing each task and ticking it off
before the allotted time
before
no task was too great
too unfamiliar or too complicated
for my determined hands
before
neighbours gasped to see
the amount I could achieve in a day
let alone a week
before
I was an amazon
but bit by bit life chipped my strength away
and now it’s gone

Wonderful poem about “before.” We all have a story and in the end the last verse is an eventual reality. I’m hoping I still have many “before” moments, even though aging is catching up to me. 🙂

Thank you Olga. May you have many more “before” moments, before the arrival of “after.” 🙂
Although “after” does not have to be such a terrible thing…

I agree, although sometimes others make it more difficult for us…

You always manage to make a half-empty cup look as it it is brimming over. It’s one of the things I love about you {{{Calen}}} xxx

Too bad I don’t have the knack for doing that for myself. But I’m glad if I can make others feel that way. {{{Jane}}}

You probably don’t know it, but you are an Amazon.
I don’t know why I’m telling you this Mary- I have a feeling you don’t read my responses to your lovely comments.
I’d love to have some news from you… xoxox
