For Laura (abridged)

missing you
is a colourless statis
a bland taste on the tongue
a distant white noise
only I can hear

memories
of the life we shared
crowd around, seeking attention.
The fine dust of yesteryear floats in the air,
settling on me as my eyes dim
into the emptiness of
missing you

            1. … perchance to dream…
I’m trying to train myself to go to bed at a sensible time. The other night I made it there before midnight, but my grandson called me up – he’s used to my unsocial hours and he wanted to talk about Paul…
No rest for the wicked 🙂

                1. You’re more sensible than me. I keep meaning to have daytime naps, but life gets in the way 🙂
Practically everyone I know is complaining about sleep disturbance at the moment. I’m not sure why it’s happening.

                  1. Yes, mine does cycle a bit with the lunar cycle, lol. Being retired, it doesn’t matter. I don’t often nap during the day. I find that when I do I stay up even later! Second wind and all that 🙂

                    1. Yup – that’s the way it works. But I like to stay up late, because so many of my WP friends live at the opposite end of the world, and the middle of my night is when you all come out to play 🙂
