Paul’s Words

sun-rays

Can it be our planet breathes?
It breathes through weeds and leaves on trees.
It seems to need to seed and breed
to please the needs of human greed.

So does it bleed through birds and bees
to feed our breed, bloodthirsty thieves!
The worst of fiends, the first to leave
and deemed to scream and curse and bleed.

I’d have been proud to have put my name to this amazing poem, but alas, I don’t have the right, since it was written to my son Paul.

After a separation of almost fourteen months, we are now in contact again. He lives 45 miles away, and we agreed that at this stage in his recovery it would be safest for both of us if we don’t see each other yet – not that the current lock-down rules would allow it – but we text each other every day. He’s had a difficult time, but has grown from it. He managed to get several thoughtful birthday gifts to me in February, and even bought me a tree for Mother’s Day, but by then the restrictions were in place, so I haven’t received it yet. I feel proud of how far he’s come, and hopeful for the future.

    1. I’m sorry for taking so long to reply, Raili. I’ve been so busy in the garden – and so tired by the time each day is over – that I haven’t been on WP since just after I posted this. Paul is amazing – moving forward by leaps and bounds. He’s just painted his flat, which he would never have done in the bad old days… but we don’t speak about the past. He’s disappointed that he can’t volunteer to help the NHS; applications had to be closed once they hit 750,000! They’re currently trying to process them.

    1. Thank you Pat. I’ll pass your kind words on to my son. Sorry I took so long to reply – I’ve been away from WP, spending every single day for the past two or three weeks weeding and tidying a garden, which is – at last – almost ready for planting.

  1. A lovely poem and a beautiful photo. Did you actually take the shot?
By the way, this is my first time to visit your blog. I am a new blogger and I hope you can support me. Just recently, I made a challenge to myself to visit at least 10 blogs in a day and during my visit, I will leave comments. At the same time, I will have you link posted on my blog. Hope you can visit and check it.

    1. Thank you, Vanessa, I’ll pass your comment on to Paul. I’m sorry I didn’t respond sooner. I’ve been so busy I haven’t managed to blog since the beginning of April. I’ll check out your blog now.
